Mila's story

Mila was 7 years old when she was removed from the family home due to her parent's drug addiction. Her parent’s behaviour was unpredictable, they were struggling to meet her basic needs and to keep her safe. Mila was placed with foster carers who were able to provide her with consistent care, but they were increasingly worried about her withdrawn behaviour at home and she was struggling to concentrate at school. She was also hoarding food in her bedroom.

Play Therapy at Be Centre provided Mila with a safe and accepting environment to help her process her past experiences and the major changes in her life. By the end of Play Therapy, she started to make her needs known both at home and at school. Her self-esteem grew and she became more confident in her abilities.
